US Supreme Court to Ban TikTok – As per US Government, TikTok’s parent company is based in China and that could be potential national security threat if Chinese authorities force them to hand over sensitive data of Americans who use TikTok or could influence the spread of information.
The law to ban TikTok was passed by bipartisan majorities and signed by President Joe Biden in April, According to that, TikTok will shutdown on Jan 19 unless Chinese parent company ByteDance sold TikTok to approved buyer.
On Friday, President-elect Donald Trump submitted argument to Supreme Court to pause the TikTok ban from going into effect until he resume the office so he can pursue a “political resolution” on same.
Trump have tried to ban TikTok during his first term in office. He joined the TikTok during his 2024 presidential campaign and has 14.7 million followers. earlier this year he mentioned that, he still believed there were national security risks with the planform, but that he opposed banning it.

On 9 Jan, billionaire Frank McCourt, McCourt’s Project Liberty initiative confirm that along with its unnamed partners, they propose a deal to TikTok’s parent company ByteDance to acquire TikTok’s U.S. assets.
What Happen to App after TikTok Ban
US Supreme Court to Ban TikTok, If Court uphold a law that would ban TikTok in US which means, the federal law would forbit Apple and Google app stores, from offering the popular app.
Already TikTok users can have the app on their phones and will continue to access to it but new users can’t download the app. Existing user of TikTok will not receive any app updates and that will eventually render the app unworkable, the Justice Department has said in court filings.
